Neighbours and the law

01Can Luna see into my neighbour’s garden?

No. The parcel boundary is enforced in the flight controller, and the camera points down and inward while the aircraft is moving. Neighbouring property is not captured in the first place, rather than captured and then discarded.

02Do I need an FAA licence?

Under 250 grams there is no FAA registration requirement for recreational flight. Version one flies while you are present and watching, which is what the rules permit over your own property. Fully unattended patrol needs a waiver, and we are pursuing one rather than pretending it is already granted.

03Is this legal where I live?

Airspace rules are federal and national. Nuisance and privacy ordinances are local and they vary a lot. We will publish a plain language guide per state before shipping, and if your municipality is a problem we will tell you that instead of taking your money and letting you find out.

04What if a neighbour complains anyway?

The geofence and the transit framing mean you have a concrete, checkable answer rather than a reassurance. We will give you the technical documentation you would need if it ever came to a conversation with a city.

The device

01Is it loud?

Small props and under two minutes in the air, so closer to a kitchen extractor than a lawnmower. It is not silent, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. We will publish a measured number when there is hardware to measure.

02What about rain, snow and wind?

The dock is weather sealed. Luna does not launch in conditions it should not fly in, and it tells you why rather than failing silently. Michigan winters are the test case, because that is where it is being built.

03What happens if my internet goes down?

Recording and detection continue, because both run on the dock. You lose remote viewing until the connection is back. Cellular backup is part of the optional monitoring plan.

04What if it crashes or gets stuck?

Under 250 grams a collision is a scuff, not a repair. If it cannot make it back to the dock it lands and tells you where it is.

05Can someone steal it?

Physically, yes, the same as any outdoor camera. It is useless to them. Recordings are encrypted with a key derived on your hardware, and a stolen aircraft cannot be paired to another dock.

Privacy

01Can you see my footage?

No. We hold no decryption keys. This is not a policy we could change later, it is a consequence of where the keys are generated.

02What happens if police ask you for footage?

We have nothing readable to give them. There is no law enforcement portal and no request workflow, because neither was built. Legal process is served on you, which is where the Fourth Amendment intends it to land.

03What if you get acquired?

The nine commitments are published and versioned, and they will be written into the corporate charter at incorporation so an acquirer cannot quietly void them. Until incorporation that is a promise rather than a structure, and we say so on the commitments page rather than letting you assume otherwise.

04Will there be a neighbourhood network?

No. It is the most valuable thing we could build, and it is the exact architecture we exist to oppose. Declining it is the proof the rest is real.

Buying it

01What does it cost?

The hardware is $500, once. Monitoring is $25 per month and it is optional. Local storage, playback and detection are free forever and work offline.

02Is there a subscription I am forced into?

No. The subscription buys monitoring and response. It never buys access to your own recordings.

03When does it ship?

We are not promising a date we cannot hold. The waitlist is how you find out first, and the first 500 homes get founding member status and locked pricing.

04Do you need my card to join the list?

No. No deposit, no card, no charge. An email address, and optionally a ZIP and a first name.
